Is there a star here now?
Landing sites are fixed, but which one has a star on it changes constantly — one star per world, roughly every 90 minutes. The live map shows every star players have currently called, with its world, its estimated size and how long it has left. Search for Abandoned Mine west of Burgh there to see whether this site is active right now.
What to expect
Stars land at size 6 to 9 and wear down one size roughly every 7 minutes while somebody is mining. The Mining level you need is the size × 10 — 90 for a T9, 60 for a T6 — so a star called an hour ago may already have decayed past the point where it is worth the trip, or below the level you can mine at all.
